How to Charge a Scissor Lift
There is a great ease when using a scissor lift, because the convenience of working and the lift basket's security provides peace of mind while trying to carry out tasks which would have otherwise required utilizing the rung of a ladder. The safety risks involved with this equipment make it the right alternative for performing tasks from heights.
Most scissor lifts are powered electrically by batteries that have been mounted directly onto the equipment. These batteries will have to be charged following a long shift or after sitting for extended periods without use. It is a simple job to charge the batteries. This can be done without any particular tools or equipment and requires no heavy labor.
So as to prepare the scissor lift for charging, park the machine near an electrical outlet. Make sure you are doing this in a well-ventilated place. After that, in order to avoid another operator from driving away with the lift plugged in, press the emergency shut-off switch. The emergency shut off switch is the big red button found inside the basket of the lift, near the control box or the charger. Find the battery charger on the base of the lift on the right side. Often, models which are older will have the charger mounted on the back of the lift.
After that, plug the charger into the AC extension cord. Be certain you are charging in an area which is well ventilated and after that plug the extension cord into an electrical outlet. In order to avoid accidental damage from being run over, the length of the electrical cord on the battery charger is intentionally short. This is because if any excess length were to drop out of the battery charger storage place while in use, extreme danger could likely occur.
