Kinds of forklifts:
A major consideration when buying a forklift is whether to opt for electric, hybrid or internal combustion. Every technology has its advantages and disadvantages. It is very important to be able to distinguish one type of forklift from another and to select the best kind for the application. The following information could help you to choose the kind of forklift which best fits your needs.

The long-term cost savings is a key advantage of using electric forklifts. The first outlay to purchase additional batteries might seem expensive, but you actually save a lot of money by not having to buy fuel and bring it to the work site. If you use some kind of alternative energy source, like windmills or solar panels, you can save even more money.

The downtime for charging the lift and changing out the batteries are amongst the disadvantages of using electric forklifts. This technology continues to get better as new methods of utilizing electric technology advances.

Variations on Forklifts:
Stand-up rider forklifts - These electric-powered forklifts have counterbalance weights built into the body and are made so that the operator rides within the body of the truck.

Stand-up, narrow aisle rider - Best for areas with tight spaces. Instead of having counterweight within its body, this electric forklift is made with straddle legs on each side in order to provide stability.

Sit-down rider - At the rear of the sit-down-rider, you can locate the counterbalance.

Motorized hand-pallet jacks - This low-lift truck has forks and is designed for the operator to stand on the back. Other models are designed to be walked.

Reach forklift - This kind of forklift has a boom for long reach. The forklift is designed to be stable on surfaces which are uneven by having the outriggers at the front.
