On a lift truck, one can find a range of different mechanisms that raise and lower the lifts, like: rack and pinion lifts, scissor lifts, screw lifts, telescoping lifts and articulated lifts. The scissor lift uses crisscrossed folding supports with a screw system that draws the members together. Rack and pinion lifts utilize a pinion, that is a small drive gear, to drive a straight-toothed rack to lift the load. The telescoping lift mechanism is made with multiple sections that retract and extend into and out of each other to achieve lifting action. Screw lifts utilize threads to raise the lift. Articulated lifts utilize a mechanism involving many parts which unfold or articulate. An articulated lift example is the "cherry picker."
Lift truck Material Handling
There are many reasons to keep up with innovations in material handling methods. Material handling tools and the processes can be utilized to handle additional SKUs, increased geographical coverage, and the need to lower inventories. Machinery which are well ahead of the technological curve could help productivity maximization and increase effectiveness.
Lift truck Battery & Charging Technology
The latest innovations on electric lift trucks have yielded higher capacities and longer run-times than ever before, that makes the decision to convert from the conventional internal combustion lift truck over to the improved electric models. Battery and charger combinations are offering more power for longer periods than older systems can achieve. Improvements in battery and charger technologies are not just making electric forklifts more productive but they are making it possible to have more environmentally friendly warehouse operations.
The electric powered machinery utilize Lithium-Ion Batteries or Li-ion batteries. The Li-ion batteries show incredible promise, but this technology is still somewhat new. They are not just smaller but could hold up to six times the charge of standard lead acid batteries. Li-ion batteries have very low maintenance needs and are able to maximize opportunity charging through zero memory technology.
