Bud Bushnell established Genie Industries during 1966, after he bought the manufacturing rights to a material lift that operated on compressed air. The name Genie originated from the "magic in the bottle" that was utilized to raise and lower the hoist. This mechanism really impressed a lot of clients and hence, the name was born.
Genie expanded operations and established itself into various new markets, as the need for platforms and work lifts grew. Over time, as the requirements for new machinery to meet numerous applications grew, the company made itself recognized in many new markets. Like for example, Genie went into production with stick booms, telehandlers, man-lifts, articulated booms and light towers.
Due to the economic downturn during the beginning of the 2000s, Genie decided to obtain a partner who held the same values. They partnered up together with Terex Corporation. This company has a history acquiring machine manufacturers throughout the globe who proved to be a good business match. Genie Industries was sold in the year 2002 and became a part of Terex Corporation.
In the early years after the sale, it was determined to maintain the Genie brand name within the Terex Aerial Work Platforms or AWP segment of Terex, because of the name's solid reputation in the marketplace. Thus, all Genie machinery continue to be sold under the Genie brand name.
The company takes great pride in taking advice from and listening to their clients. Genie has always been continually devoted to improving the efficiency and quality in addition to minimizing wastes. Even long after the sale has been closed, the company concentrates on offering exceptional support. These are the very work practices which have made Genie a trusted brand name over the last decades and continue to keep their reputation for top-of-the-line and quality machinery.
Genie's DC and Bi-Energy machinery are emission-free, quiet machinery capable of working in delicate work settings. Where the equipment should be driven significant distances, like for instance in industrial situations, the Genie bi-energy system combines the benefits of a 48V DC machinery along with the power of a diesel-powered generator.
Telescopic booms provide greater horizontal reach, compared to any of the different aerial platforms. These machines are ideal for small areas or limited access areas in all types of environments. The Genie Telescopic S booms have been engineered to offer utmost productivity. These machinery deliver the drive speed and supreme traction you need to be able to travel around the job area and work site.
