How to Use a Forklift
Forklifts are material handling machines that can move loads. Normally, these machinery are utilized in some industries to move heavy materials in a wide variety of settings like supply companies, warehouses and airports. Any person operating a lift truck should be taught to cautiously utilize the equipment. It is essential to be totally aware of one's environment when operating a forklift. Lift trucks are designed to run on gasoline, propane, batteries or diesel. Typical lift trucks are common in various commercial applications and are truly not hard to operate with proper training. The following steps outline the basics of using a forklift:

1 Get familiar with all the levers which are used to transport and maneuver the cargo from location to another location. The levers could be found to the steering wheel's right side.
2 The first lever could move the forks up and down. Pushing the lever away from your body moves them down and pulling the lever towards your body moves the tines up. Forks must be kept near the ground except when loading or unloading.
3 The other two levers control the tilt as well as the right/left movement of the tines. The blades are designed to tilt between 15 and 30 degrees. It is recommended that you practice prior to picking up a load. Utilizing the second lever, push it away from your body to tilt the forks forward, and pull it towards your body to tilt the forks back.
4 The third lever is moved side to side to control the movement of the forks from right to left. Just move the lever towards where you would like the blades to move: right to move the blades right and left in order to move the forks left.
5 Always approach a cargo cautiously. Lower the blades and carefully drive forward until the blades slide under the cargo. Then lift the tines several centimeters by pulling the lever towards your body. If the load is top-heavy, you should tilt the tines backwards a small amount for balance.
6 Safe driving regulations comprise taking corners slowly and honking to alert pedestrians or other employees that the lift truck is approaching. Approach the area where you will be working cautiously. Control the levers to maneuver the load to where it is going. When the cargo is placed, reverse gears and back away cautiously.
7 A lift truck stops the same way as a car. The brake is located to the accelerator's left side. When stopped, shift the gear into "park."
