Telescoping Boom Lifts
Telescoping booms lifts are designed to mount a work bucket on an extendable, straight arm that is situated on a rotating turntable. Typically, telescoping boom lifts are utilized for tasks that need reaching at maximum height, exceeding other types of lifts. For example, workers can perform exterior renovations or repairs on buildings of medium height but using these lifts instead of having the additional work of setting up an outside elevator or a pulley system.
The boom lift bucket generally only holds a single employee. These buckets are more suitable to particular tasks like for example electrical repair, as opposed to window washing or general maintenance. These lifts are available with both outdoor and indoor tires and are available in electric and gas configurations.
Scissor Lifts
Scissor lifts are named for the cross-braces underneath the work platform. These braces squeeze together to be able to push the platform straight up. Since these kinds of machinery should be positioned directly under the work site, these units are way more limited in their use as opposed to boom lifts.
Scissor lifts do, on the other hand, provide bigger platforms which enable the operator controlling the lift to access a bigger work surface when the lift is raised. With scissor lifts, all-terrain capability is less of an issue with these types of machines, since they must sit on flat ground in order to be utilized. Scissor lifts are ideal for being used for cladding or window installation, because they provide the personnel with the desired mobility; they are also a great choice for exterior repairs or window cleaning applications.
Boom Trucks vs. Cranes
The boom truck or cherry picker refers to the utility vehicle often used to raise workers for various tasks done at heights. Typically, these trucks have a cab. It is here where the operator sits and controls the equipment. There is a bucket for where the worker could stand as well as an actuator arm for raising the boom and a winch for carrying.
Boom trucks take personnel to heights which would normally be inaccessible. The function of cranes is to lift heavy supplies or equipment from one place to another. There are different kinds of cranes which could carry out a variety of purposes. Both of these different kinds of machines excel at different jobs and are great for specific applications and finishing particular jobs.
