During 1842, Inventor Jerome Increase Case established Case in Racine. He began making threshing machines. The business later gained global recognition as the first manufacturer of steam engines for its agricultural application. Eventually, the business grew to become the world's largest producers of steam engines.
Case had established themselves in the construction equipment business by 1912. They became a producer of road building machines including steam rollers and road graders. Case grew their construction equipment business through different acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation during 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the top producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machines.
During the year 1999, Case merged with New Holland to become CNH Global. This business became responsible for advertising some of the world's leading brands of construction and agricultural equipment.
