JLG Telehandlers New Brunswick
John L. Grove chose to stop working after spending numerous years working together with his brother to build their crane construction company into a global leader. His wife Cora and John celebrated their retirement by going on a cross-country trip in their R.V. After that specific journey, JLG Industries, Inc. emerged and became the world's leading producer of specialized material handling machines and mobile aerial work platforms.
Throughout the R.V. trip, John spent much of the time talking to prior business associates that the Groves stopped to visit along their trip. While they visited the Hoover Dam, sadly, 2 employees were accidentally electrocuted on scaffolding. During following conversations, John discovered a huge untapped market for a type of product which can safely and quickly hoist people into the air in order to carry out construction and maintenance work.
When John and his wife returned from the journey, John decided to take action. He and two close friends began a business and then bought a small metal fabrication company within McConnellsburg, Pennsylvania. In the year 1970, with an original crew of 20 employees, the trio built and sold the very first JLG aerial work platform. Many components of the basic design elements of that very first equipment are still being integrated into the present equipment
