Manitou Forklifts New Brunswick
In order to reduce forklift maintenance, frequent inspections could help you save greatly over the long haul use of your machinery. The standing joke within the business is a lift truck technician coining the saying "Pay me now, or pay me later," since it usually costs more to procrastinate when it comes to forklifts. Like for instance, the minor fixes that go unrepaired could eventually turn into expensive repairs.
Tilt Cylinders
If they are not checked, oil leaks are a very serious issues. On a regular basis, the machinery should be checked for damage and/or oil leaks. Oil leaks could cause really dangerous uncontrolled movement of the mast. Whether the leaks are outside or inside the cylinder, the end result could lead to loss of vital fluid and cylinder drift. When leaks or damage are detected, you typically would need to replace the seals or the entire cylinder assembly.
Chains
Be sure to pay attention because you don't want mast lift chains to stretch beyond acceptable limits. Look carefully for any indications of wear and tear or damage. Check frequently with a chain wear gauge so as to monitor the wear. If the chain is rusted or worn beyond 2 percent, it is time to replace the chain. Following these guidelines would help keep your machine functioning optimally.
Mast
When using the lift control lever, the mast has to be moved down and up smoothly, making sure to check if the mast is moving smoothly backwards and forwards. You might have to lubricate the mast strip sliding surfaces if the sliding surfaces are binding. Also lubricate their fittings, since there is a fitting located on either side of the inner mast. The lift bracket side rollers are one more lubrication spot.
Forks
The blades need to be checked for damage, wear and cracks because cracked or worn forks can fail with out any warnings. Any damaged fork of course means immediately taking the truck out of service. If the cracks are deeper than just on the surface, they must be replaced as they really can't be safely fixed.
